With 20,000 music lovers jammed into the behemoth Staples Center — and millions more watching at home — the Recording Academy's biggest night is one rollicking party featuring some of the world's best house bands. Here's what was seen and overheard from inside and outside Sunday's 52nd annual show.

As the music awards blowout is about to begin, some of the folks heading to their seats at downtown's Staples Center stop at concession stands to shell out $5.25 for hot dogs and $6 for buckets of popcorn. But there's no alcohol for sale.
