Billy's engaging in some intriguing brand expansion lately -- launching a label (roster includes, awesomely, the Germs and Electric Prunes) and getting "lost in laughter" in the studio with Jessica Simpson, for example -- but the principle Pumpkin still has enough bandwith to offer incremental updates to his biggest undertaking, the 44-track song-at-a-time free-download collection Teargarden By Kaleidyscope. "Widow Wake My Mind" is less epic in its ambition than the lead cut "A Song For A Son," and less dirge-like. It's his softer side at play here, singing about "a love that shines."
