Owen Pallett is adaptable. If he's performing solo outdoors under cloud cover, he'll seemingly conjure rainstorms while debuting a righteous new tune from his forthcoming Domino debut Heartland; while at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, he'll seamlessly flesh out his tones with the help of a symphony orchestra. That sort of versatility is a prerequisite to being the New York Times' quintessential case study on the resurgance of the one-man-band, but it's not limited to music: dude's also a touring foodie. The NYT buzzed him again in their profile of Dinner With The Band, the music-and-meals show created by Darin and Greg Bresnitz and hosted by "tattooed hipster chef" Sam Mason, premiering tonight on IFC. We spotlighted the show in its nascent webisode format when Pela made Paella a couple of years ago, but tonight it gets its proper TV facelift with special guest Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings. Final Fantasy's ep airs next week (12/1, the same night as his performance at Webster Hall with the Mountain Goats). I attended Owen's taping at DWTB's Williamsburg loft to watch him and Sam prepare a lamb loin with razor-clam ragù -(a play on "This Lamb Sells Condos," see) and watch Final Fantasy preview some stuff from his forthcoming LP.
