In support of the forthcoming Scars Basement Jaxx head out on a self-proclaimed North American "whistlestop DJ tour" this fall. It starts in San Francisco on 10/30. They're in L.A. for Halloween. Then onward. It's the UK duo's first North American trek since October 2006, but don't expect a pitch-perfect rendition of "Feelings Gone":For these particular North American dates, the duo are getting back to the basics -- their DJ decks -- and promise to spin these crowds into an outright frenzy. Their vaunted DJ sets are known best for their devil-may-care kitchen sink approach, and routinely pitch such varying artists as Mr Oizo and Whitney Houston against Nas, Eminem, Prince and Fingers Inc, whilst incorporating their extensive catalogue of Basement Jaxx hits, including "Red Alert," "Romeo," and "Where's Your Head At." Speaking of which, we have footage of a recent full-on show at the Jisan Valley Festival in Seoul: Take a look at a live "Where's Your Head At" and "Raindrops" while you peruse the dates.Continue reading Basement Jaxx Play Korea, And Soon American...

Last seen getting his balloon-heart popped in the video for Basement Jaxx's "My Turn," Devonte Hynes offers up a clip under his own alias as a psychedelic appetizer from his forthcoming Domino LP Life is Sweet! Nice to Meet You. The ex-Test Icicle seems to be on some high-grade peyote throughout "Marlene," which is like "Ambling Alp" in that the...

One Life Stand is Hot Chip's fourth album, joining a growing list of exciting releases on the 2010 docket. We've taken in "Take It In," today the nerdy/sexy/sweet electropop lads offer a listen of their senior set's (excellently titled) title track. They open it up the way Basement Jaxx might, spare bass and synth portending some sort of explosi...

Rather than do a double-album, Felix and Simon culled a mass of early "soundscapes" from the Scars sessions for the stand-alone Zephyr EP. They unveiled it on BBC 1, and you can hear it at basementjaxx.net. EP's due out in 2010.
