Last night a one-time supergroup dubbed Spirits In The Sky paid tribute to psych-rock pioneer Sky "Sunlight" Saxon at LA's Echoplex. Bringing together Billy Corgan's pickup group, Electric Prune bassist Mark Tulin, and Strawberry Alarm Clock keyboardist Mark Weitz, Spirits performed the Norman Greenbaum hit they were named after, the Seeds' "900 Million People Daily (All Makin' Love)," and a new Billy-penned song ostensibly intended for a future Pumpkins recording. While introducing the tune (working title: "Freak") Billy said,"These are the kind of lyrics I never would have written before I met Sky" before dedicating it to his late friend and collaborator. You will have to take his word for it as the vocals in this clip are pretty low.
