When Natasha Khan came to NYC to do Letterman and a pair of shows at Bowery Ballroom and Music Hall Of Williamsburg earlier this spring, she was the only thing anybody wanted to talk about. This week she's dictating media discourse in Los Angeles, playing the El Rey Theatre hours after a Jimmy Kimmel taping and a day after this great session for KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic. The sold-out show was a tour closer (don't worry, she'll back to play the larger Henry Fonda Theater in August), and apparently was taped for an upcoming Carson Daly segment. If all of that multimedia still isn't enough, there's a free Tara Busch remix up for download via EMI, and the beginnings of Dave Sitek's mystic-funk remix of "Sleep Alone" here. Or just dig into Two Suns, which is getting its fair share of love as one of this half-year's best records. Photographer Andrew Youssef delivers these shots of Khan and her Charlotte Hatherley-infused band, along with openers Hecuba.

Over the weekend, I got to see Bat For Lashes at Sweden’s Way Out West festival, and Natasha Khan was a marvel: Warm, confident, in ridiculously fine vocal form, able to rock a nutso flowery pantsuit without looking like a clown. I did not, however, get to see her cover the Fleetwood Mac witch-rock classic [...]
