Aloha drummer/composer/multi-instrumentalist Cale Parks has successfully stepped out on his own for a couple of full-lengths over the past few years, and this remix of Ra Ra Riot's "Dying Is Fine" comes in advance of his new EP of original tunes, To Swift Mars. The RRR reworking is a stand-alone project, and a stand-up one, too: Cale isn't interested in transforming so much as transferring the track's emotional and lyrical core, shifting verses wholesale onto a spare, affecting pastiche of electronic beats and keys. The hook nods to Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" in the bass and synth's mirrored melody (and tone), the ride out plies it all over a deep groove all stuttered and subdivided like. Good timing for Cale, but also good timing for Wes Miles; if you like hearing the lead Ra Ra Rioter's voice fronting something more computerized and beat-oriented here, take it as a tease for the impending release of his project with Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij, Discovery.Continue reading Cale Parks Remixes Ra Ra Riot...

Ra Ra Riot’s latest album was 2019’s Superbloom, though they shared a live LP and a 10th anniversary edition of The Orchard the following year. Other than that, the indie-pop veterans have been quiet, but they’re coming back today with “The Wish,” produced by Rostam Batmanglij.

Ra Ra Riot's Wes Miles and Rostam Batmanglij first teamed up nearly a decade ago (hmm...) for Discovery, and they've been working together intermittently ever since. On Ra Ra Riot's last album, Need Your Light, which came out back in 2016, they wrote a song called "Water" together. Today, Ra Ra Riot have returned with…

Ra Ra Riot clearly keep thinking about the future. The video for their song “Dance With Me” takes place in a post-apocalypse New York City where skeletons rule the town. But the clip for “Binary Mind” takes a much more positive spin on how the world will evolve, full of bright colors and Jetsons-esque arch...

Yesterday, Ra Ra Riot released a video for their single “Dance With Me” off their new album, Beta Love. In the video, zombie-skeletons chase the band throughout a post-apocalyptic New York City, culminating in a warehouse party-turned-battle. The storyline seems dark for the Brooklyn-based indie poppers, but quirky cut-and-pa...
