Taking Back Sunday has announced the departure of guitarist and co-vocalist Fred Mascherino. On a recent MySpace post the band said the following:
After four great years and two successful gold albums together, Fred has decided to leave Taking Back Sunday to pursue his solo career. We wish him well and we are working on the next Taking Back Sunday album as we speak.

Taking Back Sunday's album New Again has been chosen by the editorial staff of Alternative Press as the Number One Album of 2009.
