While we were grossly sweltering in the desert, of Montreal enjoyed perfect weather in our neighborhood for a sold-out three-night run at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg. They're both in the realm of the psychedelically lined freakout dance stuff Hissing Fauna... and Skeletal Lamping (maybe a little less manically fractured than Lamping at least), with lots of rock in the guitars (live, anyway) and a bona fide guitar hero moment for the Late B.P. Helium on "Like A Tourist."Continue reading of Montreal Road Test New Tunes "Like A Tourist," "Coquet Coquet"...

The name of the game for of Montreal has always been evolution. Their current incarnation, making its debut on their newest album Lousy With Sylvianbriar, favors whip-smart, sinewy rock songs, eschewing the dance pop they’ve embraced in recent years, while baring a faint resemblance to the classicist proclivities they favored early in ...

of Montreal have delivered a clip for Lousy With Sylvianbriar lead single “Fugitive Air.” The arty Athens indie vets enlisted Kevin Barnes’ wife Nina, who previously worked on “Sails Hermaphroditic,” to direct and she’s culled together a combination of deliberately-shot footage, as well...

The Georgia art-glam institution of Montreal rarely goes long without releasing a new album. Their next one is called lousy with sylvianbriar, and frontman Kevin Barnes recorded it at home on a 24-track recorder. The album is only a week away from release, and we’ve already heard the early tracks “fugitive air,” &am...
