The Rock Hall shifted gears this year for its induction ceremony, trading the swanky/stuffy hotel cocktail soiree of years past for a return to Cleveland, home to the hall since 1995. It was the second time the city hosted the event, and rather than an audience exclusively comprising ungracefully aging industry suits, this weekend's festivities featured ungracefully aging industry suits and something like 5,800 common folk in the rafters. New inductees Metallica and Run-D.M.C. clogged most of the photog memory cards, though this year's class also featured Little Anthony & The Imperials, Spooner Oldham, Bobby Womack, and Jeff Beck. Eminem was there in black to induct Run-D.M.C. and remind you that he is a thing, double-member Jimmy Page did Jeff Beck's honors (both were previously welcomed as the Yardbirds), and Rob Trujillo-era Metallica made nice with Jason Newsted, performing a double-bassed "Master Of Puppets" and "Enter Sandman." Watching Jason and Rob scream "Master!" into the mic was a nice image, listening to the farty rumble of the low end was a nice reminder why Metallica is not a double-bassed band. We've got some video highlights and Metallica family portraits for you. Continue reading Metallica Play With Two Bassists, But Not Eminem, At Rock Hall Induction...
