Swan Lake's Enemy Mine is a newborn, and it was just a little under a year ago that Wolf Parade birthed At Mount Zoomer, but since Spencer Krug sightings usually come in threes (trust me blindly on this), you had to expect a new Sunset Rubdown album: Like clockwork, the third full-band Sunset Rubdown collection Dragonslayer is out in June. On it, Krug's rejoined by Jordan Robson-Cramer (drums, guitar and keys), Michael Doerksen (guitar and bass), and Camilla Wynne Ingr (keys, percussion and vocals). There's also a new guy, bassist and occasional drummer Mark Nicol. We haven't actually heard any of the music, but we do have the album art and track list. Speaking of which: People were getting excited about Jagjaguwar labelmates Dinosaur Jr.'s Farm artwork, and while this isn't as excellent, Dragonslayer is also pretty epic. As something with a name like that ought to had better be.Continue reading Sunset Rubdown Dragonslayer Album Art, News...

Last year, Sunset Rubdown announced a reunion tour, marking the first time that the Spencer Krug-led project would perform live in just about 14 years — the band broke up soon after releasing 2009’s Dragonslayer. That tour kicked off in Montreal on Thursday night and is currently making its way through Canada before heading t...

Sunset Rubdown: Announce Reunion Tour
submitted by Nick Dec 6th 2022 07:00 pm (www.stereogum.com)
Sunset Rubdown are back. Wolf Parade’s Spencer Krug started Sunset Rubdown as a solo project in 2005, and it quickly expanded into a full four-piece band. Within a few years, the group released four albums. The most recent of them was 2009’s Dragonslayer. The same year that Dragonslayer came out, Sunset Rubdown broke up; they...

Wolf Parade: Expo 86 Details
submitted by Nick Apr 3rd 2010 12:00 pm (stereogum.com)
Wolf Parade feels like a supergroup because it’s easy to forget it was this project that initially shined an extra light on Sunset Rubdown, Handsome Furs, Swan Lake, etc. I mean, for people with short memories. At some point the guys paused from stringing for CNN to get going on the third official Wolf Parade [...]

Sunset Rubdown: – “Dragon’s Lair” Video
submitted by Nick Feb 25th 2010 05:01 pm (stereogum.com)
Just because Spencer Krug released a marimba and shit-drums EP and likely has a leg up on his next four releases does not mean he’s done mining the labyrinthine depths of his last LP for artworks the rest of us can lazily (yet totally accurately) label “epic.” The closing song to last year’s Dragonslayer i...

Sunset Rubdown: New Sunset Rubdown Video - "Black Swan"

Skeletons are to indie rock videos in '09 what bootie girls are to hip-hop clips forever. I have no idea what this means (eat a sandwich?), but it's a motif we've seen in one form or another via Fever Ray, Mi And L'Au, Pictureplane, Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Abe Vigoda, and we'll stop there. Sunset Rubdown carry on the tradition for Dragonsl...
