This clip paints a nice image of what it's like to be Elvis Perkins In Dearland. This is a Gold Room Session, from the same people that bring you the DUMBO Sessions, so it's essentially the same premise (record a bunch of live songs for embeddability) except that the DUMBO sessions are filmed at a label-operated space in DUMBO, Brooklyn, while the Gold Room is somewhere outside the industry circuit, upstate and away, closer to the sound of livestock than the buzz of publicists. Also the room is actually gold hued and full of '70s shagadelic adornment to match the band's handsomely hirsute espressos-and-Proust vibe. The song we have from the sessions, "Shampoo," is a standout amongst standouts and one of the best folk songs you'll hear this year, and I'm not just saying that because it contains the best John Jacob Niles reference since Mos Def in Black Star. The tour dates are listed after the vid because this is what they sound like live so you'll probably want them.
