Photo by William KirkNick Cave and the Bad Seeds have a whole ton of albums to their credit (fourteen to be exact), and Mute Records plans to reissue each and every one of them. Not only that, but they're releasing all these albums in 5.1 surround sound-enhanced remastered versions, with B-sides and videos included. And each of the reissues will include one of a series of short films from Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard called Do You Love Me Like I Love You?. That's a big enough undertaking that Mick Harvey, the longtime guitarist who left the band in January, will stick around to help with each of the reissues. On March 30 in Europe and April 7 in North America, Mute will reissue the first four Bad Seeds albums; the next ten will eventually follow. The first batch: 1984's From Her to Eternity, 1985's The Firstborn Is Dead, 1986's Kicking Against the Pricks, and 1986's Your Funeral... My Trial. Every one of these albums is terrifyingly badass in its own way, and we are amped about these reissues. In other Bad Seeds news, the band has announced that guitarist Ed Kuepper will fill Harvey's titanic shoes at a few Bad Seeds shows this summer. If you went looking for an Australian punk legend to replace Harvey, you could do a lot worse: Back in 1973, Kuepper formed the legendary punk band the Saints, whose "(I'm) Stranded" single was, is, and always will be an absolute banger. After the Saints broke up, Kuepper led the skronky post-punk band the Laughing Clowns, who reunited for the first time since 1984 at the Cave-curated Australian ATP festival in January. (The group has three more reunion shows this May in Melbourne and Sydney.) Kuepper has been flying solo since the Clowns' 1984 breakup. And now he's a Bad Seed, at least for the time being. That right there is a hell of a resume. After the jump, we've got the reissue tracklists and the Bad Seeds' forthcoming dates:read more
