Wrong, wrong, wrong. But it's not wrong to think this new video by director Patrick Daughters borrows judiciously in theme and mood from Radiohead's "Karma Police" and his own clip for Liars' "Plaster Casts of Everything". But, shit, more video should steal from "Karma Police"-- cars moving on their own volition are sinister, "Knight Rider" be damned. Daughters is one of the best YouTube generation music video auteurs we have, and he gets it done here-- if there are ten videos that top this one in 2009, it'll be a banner year. Bonus points to all involved for making the song-- about never being right about anything ever-- go lock-step with the visual, which takes Dave Gahan's absurd repetition to a maniacal extreme. Right, right right.[from Sounds of the Universe; out 04/21/09 on Mute]
