The last time I saw this song performed live was at Roseland Ballroom. This take on Skeletal Lamping's "Beware Our Nubile Miscreants" is considerably more stripped, partially because it features Barnes and the Late B.P. Helium on acoustic guitars, mostly because this time Kevin and his brother aren't dressed as centaurs and fife-blowing satyrs. This time it's intimate. The full touring troupe is in tow, though, so it's more a rearrangement than an Unplugged performance, with a handful of psychedelic swooshes and occasional keyboard drums to color the song's E6 pop core. Also this is starting to look like The Curious Case Of Kevin Barnes.Continue reading of Montreal Go Acoustic For "Beware Our Nubile Miscreants"...

Photo by Kathryn YuWith the glue still drying on those wacky Skeletal Lamping sticker sets, Of Montreal frontguy Kevin Barnes is already starting to patch together ideas for its successor. Speaking with Rolling Stone's Rock Daily blog, Barnes discussed where he'd like to take the next Of Montreal album. Barnes said, "I kind of want to go in a sl...

Those three along with Mark Ronson, Cool Kids, and producers like Bloodshy & Avant, Pharrell, Just Blaze, Swizz Beats, etc. It's for M5's Call And Response: The Remix Album, which came out yesterday via Octone. Stream it all at Maroon 5's MySpace and see what happens when Adam Levine puts his voice in Kevin Barnes's hands.

Tonight, they've got off, but over the next few months, free evenings will be few and far between for the dashing lads of Franz Ferdinand. The band, fresh off the digital release of new single "Ulysses" and currently out on the road in the States, has lined up a whole mess of European dates in the late winter and early spring in support of their...

Like many Pitchfork readers-- guessing here-- I'm not too terribly familiar with Maroon 5 catalogue outside of a couple of the big radio hits. What I've heard, anyway, strikes me as being pretty decent as far as these corporate rock bands go, and Adam Levine at least has a voice completely distinct from all the gruff, throaty losers who sprang u...
