The last time I saw this song performed live was at Roseland Ballroom. This take on Skeletal Lamping's "Beware Our Nubile Miscreants" is considerably more stripped, partially because it features Barnes and the Late B.P. Helium on acoustic guitars, mostly because this time Kevin and his brother aren't dressed as centaurs and fife-blowing satyrs. This time it's intimate. The full touring troupe is in tow, though, so it's more a rearrangement than an Unplugged performance, with a handful of psychedelic swooshes and occasional keyboard drums to color the song's E6 pop core. Also this is starting to look like The Curious Case Of Kevin Barnes.Continue reading of Montreal Go Acoustic For "Beware Our Nubile Miscreants"...

Photo by Marty PerezThese days, we're stuck deep in that weird, dispiriting gulf between Spoon albums. You know the drill: The last one, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, is a year-and-a-half old now, and we've heard all the songs enough times that we know when each little guitar ping will come in. But the band hasn't announced any plans for another album yet, a...
Glamour.com's Dudes & Don'ts is sort of like Vice's Dos and Don'ts except not funny (or original). But this men's fashion photo feature turns weird here, when Of Montreal guitarist Bryan Poole, aka the Late BP Helium, shows up. Turns out he's a "Don't".Here's what Glamour says: "A little scruff is sexy. Looking like a caveman from hea...

Of Montreal have announced the dates of a US tour this spring. After playing dates in California and Hawaii later this month and then heading to Australia and Japan, the band will return to the US for a series of shows, including three nights at New York's Music Hall of Williamsburg.
Photo by Kathryn YuAt this point, Of Montreal is basically Gwar, except glammier and less scary (more sparkles, less fake blood). But the Athens pop-theatre institution still keeps it real with its Elephant 6 people. And when keeping it real means recording a split 7" single for a tiny uber-twee indie label's monthly singles club, they're ready...
