"I don't care who first or who last, I just know y'all better rock this at the drop of a dime, baby," Q-Tip decrees, kicking off the official remix to "Renaissance Rap", the whistle-laden headknocker from The Abstract's deservedly praised return to form, The Renaissance. It's nice to see this track getting the solo love it deserves (it's tacked onto the back half of "Move" on the LP), and especially with such fine guests like longtime Q-Tip affiliate Busta Rhymes, Raekwon, and everyone's favorite enigma, Lil Wayne. Q-Tip's verse is recycled from the original recording, but it hardly matters when you have those aforementioned heavy-hitters sinking their teeth in.The Best Supporting Actor nod here should go to Busta ("When I sniff out you niggas that be hidin' in bushes, 'What's up?'/ And strangle you niggas like poisonous octopuses, 'Shut the fuck up'"), who has been making a concerted effort to smash any and every remix that comes his way. Rae is obviously comfortable hitting the track Wu-Tang attack-style, but the nicest surprise of all is Weezy's appearance. It's not because the verse is a stand-out, necessarily, but because he seemingly has enough respect for his elders to grace us with some cogent bars. (via Kanye)MP3:> Q-Tip [ft. It's been nine years since Q-Tip dropped a solo disc: his post-A Tribe Called Quest debut, Amplified.
