"The Take-Away Shows" meets "Black Cab Sessions" in this intimate recording shot by Vincent Moon for La Blogothèque's "In a Van". The Walkmen have already played You & Me's raggedly affecting midtempo howler "On the Water" everywhere from Juan's Basement to FOX 5 News, but it's interesting to see how many elements were there even back during CMJ 2007, when this video was made. There's that whistling, for one thing. Acoustic strums and ramshackle percussion back up Hamilton Leithauser's raspy vocal here, as bells ring. Up next: Van Morrison in a van (not really).[original version from You & Me; out now on Gigantic]
