British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden and Anglo Aussie rockers AC/DC have been nominated for gongs at this year's Brit awards.AC/DC are up against The Killers and Kings Of Leon in the Best International Group and the Best International Album (for last year's Black Ice album) categories, while Iron Maiden are up against indie dullards The Verve and tame pop trio Scouting For Girls in the Best Live Act category."Iron Maiden's secret weapon is our fans," Maiden manager Rod Smallwood told Kerrang! Dot Com. "Anyone who's been to one of our shows knows that they're the most passionate and devoted fans on the planet, making an incredible atmosphere at our shows. "To be nominated for Best Live Act at the Brits is as much a recognition of them as it is of us," he continued. "So for all of them, Up The Irons!"However, Iron Maiden are noticeably absent from the Best British Group category, despite playing to over 1.5 million people worldwide last year (including 55,000 people at their sold-out UK show at Twickenham Stadium). Let's do our damnedest to make sure they walk away with the award on the night. The 2009 Brit Awards will take place at London's Earls Court on February 18.
