While most of the world's tussling and toiling indie rock bands would break their tour van's gear shaft to get a seal of approval from Merge Records, Glasgow twee-poppers Camera Obscura are leaving the North Carolina label behind for an imprint with even more history behind it: 4AD.According to a MySpace post, the band is "understandably excited about this but will endeavor not to reflect this in our facial expressions so as not to cause unnecessary alarm." And if that statement doesn't scream "Belle and Sebastian descendants!" I don't know what does. So yeah, you'll still be able to hug your future Camera Obscura LPs at night, but now they'll have a different stamp of cool on the back. Speaking of future Camera Obscura LPs, the group is done recording their follow-up to 2006's breakout Let's Get Out of This Country for a 2009 release. That's all we know for now, but you can search for new album hints (and hangover updates, apparently) on their brand new Twitter page.

“Troublemaker,” a song from the Scottish indie-poppers Camera Obscura, is a pleasantly jangling ditty that seems to call out for one of those videos that’s all amber-hued shots of young people staring flirtily at each other.
