The endless stream of blog-friendly collaborations can make this blogger feel very unfriendly, but this one's for charity. Dirty Projectors and David Byrne team up on "Knotty Pine", the first track from the forthcoming Dark Was the Night, a 31-song compilation that will benefit AIDS group the Red Hot Organization. Nothing quite red hot about this one, but it's a bright and well-arranged pairing of two like-minded acts. Based around sprightly acoustic guitars, the track winds its way between soaring, melodically intricate female vocals and the former Talking Head's familiar burr. A couple of piano keys plink and plonk, while some outer-space glissandos arrive toward the end.
