Last week, Röyksopp told us that they had a new album on the way. They gave us a tracklist and said that it would have collabos with Robyn and Lykke Li and Karin Dreijer Andersson of the Knife/Fever Ray.But they did not tell us about asteroids and eyeball flowers and (I'm guessing) puddles of liquid-metal Terminator. Drowned in Sound just revealed the cover of Junior, and it has all those things on it, alongside a disembodied hand holding a telephone and the Norwegian duo themselves looking unimpressed by all the WTF-ness around them.Astralwerks will release Junior in the US on March 24, so you've got a couple of months to figure what the hell is going on there. First single "Happy Up Here" offers no indication.

As those production stills suggested, the Michael Baldwin-directed video for oft performed "The Girl & The Robot" offers a very literal interpretation of the track. Basically, we find poor lonesome Robyn home alone in her best dress, cocktail in hand, while her orange robot husband stays too late at the office. It's the first Röyksopp video...
It seems the Norwegian duo have been pretty video camera shy since their support tour of Melody A.M., so it makes sense that they broke their live TV abstinence on the track that Robyn guests on. She has a way of holding attention. (Lykke Li would have been a good choice too.) Röyksopp brought Junior single "The Girl And The Robot" to Senkveld,...
We'll settle for Battery Park, but this Independence Day weekend, there is nowhere we'd rather be than Denmark. The Swede reprised her studio turn for Junior's "The Girl And The Robot" at London's Royal Festival Hall. We're told Karin Dreijer Andersson, who assisted Röyksopp on a number of songs and opened the night with a Fever Ray set, provided backing vocals, but we can't spot her in this video. Instead, watch Robyn hop around like crazy.
