It's a new year for Portland's beloved power punk trio the Thermals...in pretty much every sense: new label (Kill Rock Stars), new drummer (Westin Glass), new record (Now We Can See, out April 7) and now, a new European tour. They'll make a quick stop at Brooklyn's Bell House January 31 before sailing across the Atlantic to support UK rockers the Cribs. Hate the Cribs? Leave early. Or show up to one of the group's headlining gigs in especially Thermals-friendly locales Sheffield and London. It's all in preparation for their extensive U.S. jaunt in support of the new LP, which will start in April and continue-- at summer festivals and beyond!-- for months and months to come.01-31 Brooklyn, NY - The Bell House02-03 Newcastle, England - The Cluny *02-04 Glasgow, Scotland - ABC *02-05 Manchester, England  - Ritz *02-06 Manchester, England - Ritz *02-07 Sheffield, England - Raynor Lounge02-08 Bradford, England - St Georges Hall *02-09 London, England - The Lexington02-10 London, England - Heaven *03-13 Austin, Texas - SXSW* with the Cribs

Since 2002, the Thermals have crafted raucous, ebullient post-pop-punk tunes that are ridiculously catchy and singularly intense. Over the years, Hutch Harris, Kathy Foster, and — for the last few albums — Westin Glass, have honed their craft from their homebase in Portland, Oregon, releasing five records filled with thoughtf...

“The Sunset” is the Thermals’ follow-up to Desperate Ground-first single “Born To Kill.” The track is much more self-reflective than “Born To Kill” but is still packed with the same anthemic energy that post-pop punk demands. Check it out below. Desperate Ground is out 4/16 vi...
