Money, as Cyndi Lauper told us via the Brains, changes everything. David Byrne agrees on "Money", from N.A.S.A.'s ridiculously star-studded upcoming album, The Spirit of Apollo. Despite getting kicked in the you-know by the euro, the Almighty Dollar also happens to be "the root of all evil," according to the track's other collaborators: Chuck D, Ras Congo, Seu Jorge, and Z-Trip. N.A.S.A., aka the duo of Squeak E. Clean (DJ/producer/composer Sam Spiegel, brother of director Spike Jonze) and DJ Zegon (DJ/producer/professional skateboarder Ze Gonzales), back the bill-counting with hot funk licks and humid beats. Syd Garon and Paul Griswold direct the video, which uses art by Shepard Fairey: Donald Rumsfeld and Saddam Hussein shake cartoon hands, Andre the Giant is on your TV telling you to want things, dollar bills swirl in Soviet-tinged kaleidoscopic patterns denouncing the religion of riches. Gosh, I hope all these people are working for free.Pitchfork.tv page with embed code is here.[from The Spirit of Apollo; due 02/17/09 on Anti-]
