Pavement never really went away. But every couple of years, especially since those deluxe reissues, you find yourself listening to their records as often as the day they came out. Brighten the Corners: Nicene Creedence Ed., which expands the band's 1997 album, is due next week from Matador, so here we go again: The Pavement records are down off the shelf. So it's also a great time to revisit Slow Century, the 2002 documentary from director Lance Bangs, which tells the story of the band through interviews and live footage and also offers a vital portrait of the indie rock scene in the 1990s. Check it out in the next week, and the DVD is available from Matador.
