Yelpy Australian electro dude Muscles has turned his aggression towards a new target: his label, Modular, and their Nevereverland tour. As previously reported, this year's edition of Nevereverland celebrates Modular's 10th anniversary and features a lineup that includes Cut Copy, Hercules and Love Affair, Klaxons, the Whitest Boy Alive, the Presets, and others.Muscles was originally scheduled to appear on the tour as well, but he isn't anymore. In a recent blog post, he claimed, "My record label calls my mobile phone last week and says, 'We're downsizing and can't afford to have 'Muscles' on our Nevereverland 2008 lineup anymore.'"He continued, "For everyone who bought tickets to come and see Muscles, call up Ticketmaster/Ticketek to receive a refund. They apparently are not selling many tickets. I feel sorry for them. Like I feel sorry for a blind three-legged conjoined-twin kitten. There will be lots of room to dance, and probably be less attendance than Global Gathering last week (with Mark Ronson and Kraftwerk). And two of my favourite artists are playing, Hercules and Love Affair and the Whitest Boy Alive. So if you're not sick of seeing Cut Copy and the Presets play every festival the past 2 years, just go. It's only $99!"That's some cold shit. Modular responded with the following statement: "Muscles is signed to Modular Recordings, and his services are still required under that agreement. He was offered a spot at Nevereverland, which still stands, and whether he chooses to play or not is his decision. Obviously we would like him to be part of our 10 year celebrations and hope he turns up to perform."Here's Muscles in a later blog post, responding to the statement and commenting on posters for the tour without his name on them: "It's crystal clear Modular DO NOT want Muscles on their festival line-up, so ignore whatever silly press releases that come from them. Why don't they have Muscles on the line-up poster? (These posters are from two days ago in Flemington, Melbourne.) WTF ROFLCOPTER?... All you haters bite your tongues, do your research, and check your facts."As awesome as the phrase "WTF ROFLCOPTER" is, we're not really sure who to believe here. The Presets' Julian Hamilton responded to the perceived slight of his band in the original post in an interview with FasterLouder, linked on Muscles' blog. He said, "I really like Muscles. I think he's a real talent. He's a really lovely guy. I think a few people thought [his comment] was maybe a diss on us, but I don't think it was. I think it was just more of a diss on the current climate...perhaps!"Muscles also took aim at Kylie Minogue on his blog, saying, "Did Kylie Minogue copy me on her 1st newest single 'WOW' (besides the obvious Madonna Holiday/Daft Punk reference) cause it sounds very similar to my song 'Futurekidz' that was written and produced a year before her song was released. Hmm......"Unless he is reinstated/decides to appear at the "Nevereverland" dates, Muscles' only two shows scheduled for now are dates in Melbourne and Meredith, Australia next week.read more
