Remember the 50th Annual Grammy Awards? Alicia Keys duetting with the ghost of Sinatra? Will.i.am rapping nonsense? Album of the Year River: The Joni Letters???It's easy (and fun!) to make fun of the Grammys, but last year they really deserved it, and viewers voiced their discontent by watching Extreme Makeover instead. For ceremony #51 NARAS shook things up by revealing the nominees in a prime time concert tonight. The first award's announcement kicked off with a montage of YouTube screens and an acknowledgment that "Today it's a digital world, and we're all players in it ... websites connect young artists and fans in a way never before imagined." Which doesn't explain why Katy Perry was snubbed for Best New Artist, but hey that's a promising start. More importantly, Radiohead and Lil Wayne were nominated for Album of the Year. And Foo Fighters played "You're So Vain"? You're full of surprises, 2009 Grammys. Nominees after the jump.
