"AutoTune is on its way out," T-Pain assures at the end of this remix of summer single "Can't Believe It", from Thr33 Ringz. If that's true (right?), then T-Pain is grinningly milking the trend like it's "The Twist", if not the British Invasion. Noted AutoTune and candy-metaphor user Lil Wayne appeared on the original, but he gets outshone this time by sweet-singing pretty boy Justin Timberlake. You have to wait until about the 1:30 mark to hear J.T. chuckle, practically rapping, "Hey Pain... you know I don't normally do this, but uhh... let me talk to her for a second."It's not the remix to "Ignition", but Timberlake's Smokey Robinson-clear, gently AutoTuned vocals make smooth additions to the song's laundry list of geographical locales, and his Weezy-esque chuckles add an extra percussive element to Pain's air-conditioned club-rab production. From the townhouse, to my house, to our house-- to a wedding in Jamaica. To Joe Mantegna? Weezy, you got out-non sequitured on this one. I hope non sequiturs aren't on their way out, too. The Los Angeles musician Sam Gendel is an in-demand jazz saxophonist who has played with people like Vampire Weekend, Perfume Genius, and Moses Sumney. Rappers sing now. It's a given. It's a part of the landscape. This is not new. Things have been moving in this generation for more than a decade. Fifteen years ago, T-Pain released an album called Rappa Ternt Sanga, and its title was a lie. T-Pain was rapping and singing at the same time. These…
