Hey, remember the late 90s? Economic prosperity? "Dawson's Creek"? A nagging feeling of sadness? The more things change, the more they stay tearful and screechy, as two of the era's emo powerhouses have announced plans to revisit their heydays at a series of live events. Jimmy Eat World have planned a tour early next year that will have them playing the entirety of their 1999 fan-favorite Clarity, while the Get Up Kids, who split back in 2005, will perform a reunion gig over the weekend in their native Kansas City.The Jimmy Eat World stuff's fairly self-explanatory-- 10-year anniversary of their best record, etc.-- but the Get Up Kids thing is pretty much out of the blue. Frontman Matt Pryor told the Kansas City Star's Back to Rockville blog [via punknews.org] that they'd been planning to get back out there for a few shows in celebration of the 10 year anniversary of their sophomore set Something to Write Home About, which Vagrant may be releasing in a deluxe sort of way next year [Swoon! -- Ed.]. Pryor hints at the possibility of more Get Up dates in the not-too-distant future, but for now, there's just the one: November 16, at Kansas City's Record Bar.read more
