Jarvis Cocker photo by Karra McDonaldJarvis Cocker, jamming with a beatbox orchestra, to help end knife crime in the UK? Sure, why not.Leeds, England beatboxer Shlomo-- who's worked with the likes of Björk and Damon Albarn in the past-- has gathered quite an unusual cast for an anti-knife violence gig called Music Through Unconventional Means Vs. Knife Crime, taking place at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall on December 13. Jarvis Cocker, Martina Topley-Bird, Sam Duckworth of Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, drummer Seb Rochford, comedian Marcus Brigstocke, and mom-approved "A Thousand Miles" singer Vanessa Carlton will all participate in the event, performing one or two songs with Shlomo or the other guests, with beatbox choir the Vocal Orchestra as the backing band.Funny, the idea of Vanessa Carlton performing along with a beatboxer actually kinda makes me want to commit knife crime just a little bit, but, hey, it's for a good cause. Don't stab people!
