It was plenty cool when Christina Aguilera collaborated with the likes of DJ Premier, Rich Harrison, and, yes, even Mark Ronson on 2006's monstrous Back to Basics. The double disc set saw a young lady too often relegated to "pop princess" tags taking a well-deserved stab at something bigger and kicking out some very serious jams in the process. So feel no need to contain any excitement you might feel when you read this: According to Billboard.com, Aguilera will work with the likes of Goldfrapp, Ladytron, and Sia Furler on her forthcoming fourth studio album. Aguilera confirmed to Billboard that she and Sia will hit the studio in January, and noted Sia's influence on the "Beautiful" remake "You Are What You Are" that is included on the Keeps Gettin' Better: A Decade of Hits compilation, which is out now exclusively at Target stores in the States from RCA.As for Ladytron, we've been able to confirm that the electro group has indeed been communicating with Aguilera about working together early next year. Nothing has been confirmed from the Goldfrapp camp just yet, though we have to point out that Aguilera's recent single "Keeps Gettin' Better" is basically a ripoff of Goldfrapp's 2005 hit "Ooh La La".In any case, the album is currently in progress, and Aguilera plans to work on it into 2009 with the aforementioned bunch and more collaborators she's playing coy about at present. Might we suggest the Knife? Matthew Herbert, perhaps? Eh, clearly the lady doesn't need any advice.
