The Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls' third annual Rock n Roll Auction will take place December 3 at the Zipper Factory in New York City. Proceeds from the auction will go to the scholarship fund of the Brooklyn-based summer day camp and community organization that gives young ladies a chance to learn an instrument a little cooler than the recorder, form bands, write their own tunes, and generally make a glorious racket. The auction, hosted by Mr. Murray Hill and featuring performances by Meshell Ndegeocello and Erin McKeown, will feature autographed guitars from Kimya Dawson, Joan Jett, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Roseanne Cash. Elizabeth Mitchell and Daniel Littleton of Ida are auctioning off the opportunity to have the duo play one of their childrens' songs sets at you kid's birthday party. There will also be assorted swag from Wilco, Le Tigre, the Donnas, Natalie Merchant, and more. Here's one of the Kimya Dawson guitars:Should you wish to throw down for Willie Mae, your $50 admission to the auction gets you a bidding paddle, door prizes, free hors d'oeuvres and Magic Hat for the first hour, drink specials, and the satisfaction of knowing you may well have helped the next rock legend before she ever learns how to hammer-on.If you can't make it out to the auction, you can always donate to Willie Mae right here. Ladies, please, rock on.
