Lou Reed and Berlin producer Bob Ezrin had their eyes on a stage adaptation of this depressing narrative before the record even came out, but its commercial failure ended that prospect-- at least until 2006, when various arts luminaries around New York led Reed and Evrin to revive the record for a four-night run at Brooklyn's St. Ann's Warehouse, with appearances by Sharon Jones and Antony Hegarty. This is the soundtrack to a Julian Schnabel film about those performances.read more

Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music is getting a new ambient reimagining dubbed Metal Machine Muzak. The project, which was organized by Discograffiti creator and host Dave Gebroe, features Lou Barlow, Cory Hanson, W. Cullen Hart, and Mark Robinson each taking on a track from Reed’s 1975 album.
