Two more songs from Black Lips' set down in Juan's Basement: a mean version of "Punk Slime" and then a bopping "Make It" to close it out. In interviews, they talk about what they mean when they say they are Johnny Cash minus the bullshit (they're talking about this Deerhunter session, and joking), what's up next for them (hint: it starts with beer) and how Wolfmother is sorta uptight. Black Lips sound revitalized on the singles from their imminent Black Lips Sing In A World That’s Falling Apart, "Odelia" and especially "Gentleman." But they're still definitely the same band with the same shtick, out of step with this moment in indie rock but in perfect synchronicity with their own muse.
