Last week Beck did "Gamma Ray" for Letterman. This week, he brings us a filmic black and white video for Modern Guilt's bouncy title track. The rest of his band doesn't show up; in fact, the only thread between this and the time we saw Hansen is the man himself/his hat. The narrative: Beck walks the streets of L.A. with a sort of Mod/Beatnik coffee shop dwelling/Austin Powers-inspired stalker on his tail. The guy uses various modes of transportation to keep apace with Beck, who walks really fast and carefree because he has L. Ron Hubbard in his corner. Which might also explain the surprise ending.
