I know indie rock is where we all turn for our feel-good stories, but seriously guys, this one's pretty good. As previously reported, employees of Nashville's Grimey's New and Preloved Music celebrated the release of the Walkmen's scorching new You & Me by covering their favorite Walkmen songs at an in-store event. Well, news of the performance helped the Privates-- including three-fifths of the Grimey's cover band-- land a spot opening for the Walkmen in their town, at the Basement. Now here's a video of the New York band's lead singer, Hamilton Leithauser, letting the Privates play as his backing band during the encore for an energetic rendition of Bows and Arrows' "Thinking of a Dream I Had". Leithauser looks genuinely thrilled, as of course do the Privates. Concludes the Walkmen frontman: "I'm goin' solo!"[original version from Bows and Arrows; out now on Record Collection]
