Patti Smith is working on an album of original material to follow up the April release of her covers album, Twelve. Though Smith will focus on live shows for most of the rest of the year - including a September 13 tribute for her late husband, MC5's Fred Smith - she says, "I've been working on a lot of songs, so I'd like to record again."
