Last month the Lou Reed tribute album The Power Of The Heart, assembled by producer Bill Bentley, was announced. Keith Richards’ take on “I’m Waiting For The Man,” Rufus Wainwright’s rendition of “Perfect Day,” and Maxim Ludwig & Angel Olsen’s interpretation of “I Can’t Stand It” were all shared as advance singles, and the album came out in full yesterday for Record Store Day.

Well, technically she's covering Thievery Corporation (Feat. Wayne Coyne) via "March of the Hate Machine (Into the Sun)" from TC's 2005 album The Cosmic Game. It appears on her 4-song digital EP of protest songs, Lu in '08, where she also does Dylan and Buffalo Springfield and offers an original. Listen to it all.

Reuters - Thanks to her Southern twang and onstage cowboy hat, Lucinda Williams has long been recognized as a country artist. But her most recent Grammy Award win, in 2001, was for best female rock vocal performance, and on her new album, Williams lets her rocker gal loose with authority.
