Back in the long-ago days of 2019, the Alabama Shakes leader Brittany Howard released her first-ever solo album Jaime. The record was bracing and personal and soulful, and it’s had a long tail. Since she released it, Howard has performed in all sorts of prominent spots, including the last two Grammy Awards ceremonies. Today, she’s announced an all-star remix album, which will feature reworked tracks from Jaime and which will be out next month.

Last month, we learned that Common had once again teamed up with No I.D., the producer behind his classic 1994 album Resurrection, for a new full-length called Nobody Smiling. They’ve already shared one song, “War,” and now Common has teamed up with the Black Hippy livewire Ab-Soul, his distant descendent in the pol...

Almost 20 years ago, Common (then Common Sense) released Resurrection, the classic sophomore album that he recorded with the great Chicago producer No I.D. Right now, Common is again linking up with No I.D. to make a new LP called Nobody Smiling, a concept album about the violence and hopelessness in the worst neighborhoods of [...]
