Riley Gale, the vocalist for Texas metal band Power Trip, died last year at age 34. At the time, his cause of death was not revealed. In an interview with Stereogum last December, Power Trip collaborator Ice-T suggested Gale’s death was opioid-related. Now, as MetalSucks points out, the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office confirms Gale died from a fentanyl overdose.

Kinky Friedman, the satirical singer/songwriter who also dabbled in politics and novel writing, has died from complications of Parkinson’s disease. A statement was shared to his social media and the death was confirmed by bandmate Little Jewford to The New York Times. He was 79.

On Wednesday, Metallica took their M72 World Tour to Oslo. The band was joined by Diamond Head guitarist Brian Tatler for a cover of their 1980 song “Am I Evil?,” which Metallica released their own rendition of in 1984 as a B-side to “Creeping Death.”
